218 – How to convince yourself you’re awesome

Hey mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose, the short, actionable podcast for mamas who want more. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of Mama, you’ve done some things in your life, you’ve accomplished a lot. You’ve done a lot of things, experience things, gotten awards, done all these awesome things with your life. And we can forget those. When we become a mom, we can forget the life that we had before mom. And Mama’s Daily Dose is… how to convince yourself that you’re awesome, and can do really cool stuff. Let’s get moving. Before we get interrupted.

A friend of mine rides around in her minivan with a sticker on the back that says, “I used to be cool. Now I drive a minivan.” And when we become moms, we can forget about all the cool stuff that we’ve done. To get us here and all the cool stuff that we’re going to do in the future. Along with everything that we have accomplished in our lives. Your whole previous life isn’t erased when you become a mom, you were super cool back then. You’re cool now and you’ll be cool in the future. And you’ve done and accomplished so much. But it’s so easy to forget those things. And I did this awesome exercise in a program with Sean Croxton. You can check them out @SeanCroxton on Instagram or He’s amazing has some great podcasts too. But in his program, the first thing that we did is we wrote an accomplishment paragraph. So you start with like, it’s like you’re introducing a friend, you go, “Hey, this is my friend Meghan. And she had a health coaching company. She graduated magna cum laude a she’s raising two awesome kids…” And basically you just go through all of the things that you have accomplished in your life. And then you look back on it, you’re like, wow, I am pretty cool. Like this is some cool stuff on here that you just forget about. 

Mama, your action today is to write down a list of all the accomplishments in your life are all the ones that you can think of. Just keep writing them down big or small. And take a picture of it or save it on your phone, wherever it is easy to find. And when you are feeling a little down on yourself where you feel like you can’t do something, pull that up and just read it through and kind of read it through like it is your friend like you’re introducing your friend because when you can take a step away from yourself and look at it. It looks even cooler. So Mama, you’re cool. Now you are cool then and you will continue to be cool. And have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
