177 – What is a mistake?!

Hey mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose, the short actionable podcast for mamas who want more. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Mama’s daily dose is going off of yesterday’s MamAffirmation, “I always do the best I can.” And in doing your best, you’re going to make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. And Mama’s daily dose is, what is a mistake? Let’s moving before we get interrupted.

A mistake is up to you. It is up to you how you want to view a mistake. Because a mistake is really something that happens in hindsight, we touched on this yesterday that when you’re doing that action, you are making the best decision that you can, with the information experience and all that stuff that you have in you, you’re making the best choice that you feel at that time. Otherwise, you probably wouldn’t make that choice, you would probably make a different choice. It’s not until later on, maybe five seconds later, maybe five years later, that you look back and you say, Hey, that was probably a mistake. And when looking back on it, it’s up to you how you want to see that mistake. There’s this awesome thing called Success approximation. Now it’s kind of a big word. For me, I was like, I don’t really know if I want to like go into it on the podcast. But once I dove into what it’s really about, stick with me here, okay. It’s all about learning with errors, that you get closer and closer to your goal, or what you want, because of the feedback that you get from your mistakes. So those mistakes are merely steps to your goal, steps to become who you want to be. That is all a mistake is, is it’s just a chance to get some feedback, and move forward. Mistakes are really where we can learn the most where our kids can learn the most. I just started this new thing with my family on Sunday dinners, where we go around and we say one mistake that we made over the week. And what we learned from that mistake, you will learn far more from your failures and your mistakes than you will free from your successes. Because through that success approximation. It brings you closer and closer to your goals. You’re getting more and more feedback to get to your goals, who you want to be.

Mama, your action today is to look at how you view mistakes. How do you view mistakes that you make? How do you view mistakes that your kids make? Do you wallow in those mistakes saying I should have done this? I could have done that? Or do you look at those mistakes and you’re like hey, this is what I learned. And this is just a stepping stone to move forward. Because that is up to you on how you want to view mistakes. So Mama, go out there and make a mistake today and learn something from it and have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
