136 – How to get more creative

Hey mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Well, this week marks the halfway point through December oh my gosh, it’s almost 2022. Next week is Christmas. I may just be saying these things more as a reminder to myself, but I feel like moms, we need the reminders of what’s coming up all the time. I hope that the holiday season thus far has been kind to you. And that you can find some time for yourself and some stillness, and some quiet, and Mama’s daily dose is…Stillness inspires creativity. Let’s get moving before we get interrupted.

Let’s chalk this up to something I didn’t quite appreciate, until I became a mom. And let’s just add it to the long list of things. And that is stillness. And quiet. I just I didn’t realize how important it was to just kind of sit there and relax, enjoy the quiet and how much that really helps inspire you and inspire some creativity. And sometimes we need to find these moments of stillness and accept them. An example this is my four year old son needs to be snuggled with until he basically falls asleep. And I used to dread this, I’m like, Oh my gosh, I have to lay in his bed for I don’t know, anywhere from five to 20 minutes. And I just sit there. And then I decided to spin it and be like, Okay, well, why don’t I enjoy this moment of stillness and enjoy getting to snuggle with my kid because, you know, as they always say, it’s not gonna go on forever. So now, while I’m snuggling with my child at night, I’m enjoying that stillness, I try to quiet my mind as much as I can. And let me tell you, that is where I get the majority of my ideas for this podcast, is just taking that time to slow down and listen to my inner thoughts and what’s going on. Because as crazy as it sounds, you already have all of the answers inside of you. Sometimes we just need to sit, be still and be open to receiving them.

Mama, these moments of quiet and stillness, don’t always come easy. But make sure you carve out that time to have them. Maybe when you’re snuggling with your child at night or when they wake up in the morning and everything is kind of quiet, or wake up before your kids too. And if you need a little extra help, this Sunday, December 19. I have the much needed mama meditation, get that stillness, get that quiet. Maybe you’ll get some inspiration from it too. But what I do guarantee you will get is just some time to yourself 30 minutes because it’s going crazy out there and I know that you need some time to yourself. So don’t forget about you. Sign up today at allyoumama.com/mamameditation and have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
