118 – Show someone else appreciation

Hey Mama, this is Mama’s daily dose. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of Quick reminder, you are doing an amazing job, you are an amazing mama. And you are an amazing person. And if you don’t hear it enough, just know that you are. Most people, especially mamas don’t feel like they hear and receive the appreciation that they really need, and deserve. So what I want you to do today is be that person that starts that appreciation train, and go out there and tell someone that you appreciate them today. And they’ll go out and hopefully do that to someone else. And someone else. It’s like that whole Starbucks coffee line, you know, when someone buys the coffee for the people behind them, and it keeps going. So let’s do that. But this one’s free, and give some appreciation, and Mama’s Daily Dose is… show someone else some appreciation, let’s get moving, before we get interrupted.

We’ve kind of talked about you know, that energy that you give out is what you receive. And so if you’re giving off this positive, appreciative energy, that is what you’re going to get back. And you know, that feeling of when you give a gift, it’s almost better than getting a gift yourself, like you’re so excited for that person. That’s the same as giving appreciation that is really giving the other person a gift. And I’ve said before, gratitude is free, whether you’re giving it out, or journaling in your journal, what you are grateful for, it is completely free, you don’t have to give a gift, you just need to give your words and show your appreciation. You don’t even need words, you could give someone a hug. That’s showing appreciation, too. But I record these episodes a bit in advance. So right now it is actually Halloween day. And we have some neighbors a little bit away from us that decorate for Halloween. And they change their signs. They have these funny signs. I wish I could tell you what they are. But Mom Brain, I’m not remembering. Anyways, they have these funny signs that you drive by. And you can read them as you drive by, and they go out and they change them at least once a week. Like there’s a lot of effort in this and a lot of planning. And yesterday when I was driving by, I saw the gentleman out in his yard and I slow down and I was just like, hey, I really appreciate these signs. They’re funny, I can’t wait to drive by them. I can’t wait to see a new one. And I just appreciate the time and the effort that you put into it. And he just smiled and he said thank you. And you know what I was so happy that I took that, I don’t know 30 seconds to slow my car down and talk to this gentleman. I don’t know his name. I don’t know anything else about him. But I know that I helped make his day a little bit brighter. And that helped make my day a little bit brighter too.

Hey, Mama. So find someone that you can show a little appreciation to today, send a text, tell them in person, just give them a hug, whatever it is, they will appreciate it and you will appreciate giving it to them too.
