111 – What plant are you watering?

Hey mama. This is Mama’s daily dose. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of It’s a brand new week, and we are rolling into the month of gratitude. So make sure that you grab your journal today and journal down three things that you are grateful for. And Mama’s daily dose is…What plant are you watering? Let’s get moving before we get interrupted.

I’m certainly no botanist, plants aren’t really my thing, they last maybe two to three months, I think that’s my longest that I have…I think that’s my record two to three months of a plant actually surviving. So I’m much better at keeping tiny humans alive. Plants. Not really my thing. But I will use it as an analogy. Because in order for a plant to thrive, and to grow, and just to survive, you need to water it, you need to take care of it. So where are you putting your energy? What plants are you watering? And are you taking care of? Are the the things that are important to you…are those like the plants that sat out on my front doorstep dead for months before I got rid of them? Where your attention goes, is where your energy flows. Meaning, what are those plants that you are watering? 

Okay, are you putting all of your attention and therefore your energy into negative things, or things that don’t really matter, or things that are not moving you towards your end goal? If you are going to focus on the negative and water the hell out of that negative plant, the energy that you are going to get is negativity. You know that energy that you put out is what you are going to attract. So if you are always watering the negative plant and getting that negative energy, then all you’re ever going to see is negativity. All these negative people and negative things are going to come into your life. But the same thing goes that if you start watering, that positivity plant, or that goals plant, whatever your goal is, and you are putting all of that time and that effort and that energy into it, that’s what you are going to get out because that is what you are exuding. And that’s what you’re looking for. Where your attention goes is what you are going to see. There is so much crap going on around us every single day. And we just cannot process all of that information. So what we do process is what we are focusing on, and you get to choose that plant that you want the water.

Hey, Mama, so what plant are you going to focus on today? What do you want to grow? What energy do you want to be exuding out? What energy do you want to get back because that is what you need to focus on. And maybe for today for your gratitude, write down the energy that you are grateful for or the goals that you are grateful for, or what you want from that energy and those goals and start exuding that gratitude now because that is exactly what you’re gonna get back. And have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
