Hey Mama. This is Mama’s Daily Dose. I’m Meghan Q Barrett of allyoumama.com. Mama’s Daily Dose is… need help waking up? Let’s get moving, before we get interrupted.
If you have listened to this podcast at all, you know that I always preach, waking up before your kids, even just five minutes, makes a huge difference. Whatever time that you need to kind of center yourself in the morning and get in touch with yourself and start the day off on your terms is what I suggest. And it was funny, I was listening to a talk by Steve Harvey. And he was talking about when he first had started and he had a sponsor, this guy would call him every morning 5:30 in the morning on the dot. And Steve was still half asleep, like “hello.” And the guy was just so excited, like “how you doing, man, it’s gonna be a great day.” And then we just hang up. And he kept doing this and doing this and doing this until Steve finally woke up early.
And then it dawned on me that I had a friend that did this to me in high school, his name is Joubert. And every weekend, he would call me. I don’t even know what time it was. It was it definitely wasn’t 5:30 in the morning, but it was early for a teenager, and would incessantly call me until I answered the phone, and would just be so he’s like, “hey, Meghan, good morning, what are you doing?” And he was just always so excited. And I’m like, why the hell are you calling me at this time. And I even unplugged my phone at times, because we’re talking like, way back in the beginning of high school when I, I had my own phone line, which was a really big deal. But it wasn’t a cell phone, it was like, you know, you could unplug it from the jack. And so I did that. And then once cell phones came along, he started calling my cell phone too. And luckily that one could be silenced. But it was just, it was awesome. Like coming back full circle to that. Now I know that Joubert wakes up I think at four o’clock in the mornings. He’s an entrepreneur and he gets stuff done. I mean, I’m on the east coast. He’s on the west coast, and we’ll be texting each other super early in the morning. But it, it kind of just shows you that, you know, the most successful people do wake up super early in the morning and feel most productive in the morning. That’s when I feel most productive. That’s when I get all of my work done. And not only work on my business, but work on myself and reading. And once again, you don’t have to start at like four o’clock in the morning. That’s not what I’m saying. Start waking up five minutes early. You can do it. And you know what, if you need a little help waking up, send me a message on Instagram. And I’ll text you. I will it will actually be me too. And it won’t be a recording. So send me a message and I’ll help you get up early and start your day off right.
Hey Mama, I am totally serious on those text messages. So head on over to Instagram @MeghanQBarrett. That’s Meghan with an H and I’ll send you a text in the morning. Just let me know what time and it’ll be there and text me back and have a great day free of mama guilt because you deserve it.
